Preparing Golfer Report
The Golfers worksheet contains an abbreviated scoring record and other pertinent information for each golfer that is updated when you use the Calculate Handicaps function. Most of the information is self explanatory. The "Handicap Type" column lists any codes indicating conditions that apply to the golfer's Handicap. There are eight possible Handicap Type codes that might appear. All the codes are entered automatically by the program.
Invalid - This code indicates that there were not enough scores to meet the minimum requirement of the selected handicap calculation method. For example, if the handicap method you selected or created requires a minimum of three scores. Although the program will calculate a Handicap with fewer than three scores posted, an "Invalid" code is assigned to the calculated handicap.
N - Nine Hole Handicap Index: this code is assigned to Handicap Indexes calculated exclusively from nine hole scores when using the Nine-Hole Handicap Format.
M - Modified by Handicap Committee: this code applies to handicaps that have been adjusted by the handicap committee. This can be done when the actual Handicap does not accurately reflect a player's ability due to a large number of away scores or rapid improvements in a player's game ahead of the next handicap revision. This code is entered automatically when a player's handicap is frozen in the Golfer Information form.
R - Event Adjusted - This code is assigned to handicaps that have been reduced based on exceptional event scores. This code only applies when using the Traditional Handicap method.
X - This code indicates that an Exceptional Score Adjustment has been applied to a player's handicap based on one or more exceptional scores in the player's scoring record. This only applies when the Exceptional Score Adjustment (ESA) option is selected in the Handicap Calculation Method form.
C - This code indicates that a player's handicap increase has been limited based on an increase of 3 or more strokes over the lowest handicap during the 12 previous months. This only applies when the Limit Handicap Increases option is selected in the Handicap Calculation Method form.
Each golfer's abbreviated scoring record is listed starting with the most recent score. Scores that were used in the handicap calculation are flagged with an asterisk (*), event scores are flagged with a "E", scores played on golf courses away from a player's home course are flagged with an "A", exceptional scores as defined by the Exceptional Score Adjustment (ESA) feature are flagged with an "X", scores resulting from combining two nine-hole scores are flagged with a "C" and Penalty Scores are flagged with a "P". The player's scoring record shows only scores used in the most recent handicap revision. It will not show scores posted after the last revision. To see a more comprehensive view of a player's scoring history, use the Golfer Statistics function.
The "Scores Posted" column shows the number of scores that were posted during the 12 months preceding the handicap calculation date. The "Average Score" column shows the average of all the scores listed in the scoring record. The Handicap Index revision history is also shown, listing the last six handicap revisions.
You can customize the appearance of the Golfers worksheet by using the Prepare Golfer Report function. This function allows you to quickly hide information that you don't want to view or print, making it easy to prepare a printed handicap report for posting or distribution. Click the Prepare Golfer Reports button on the Main Menu or Golfers worksheets to display the Golfer Reports form. Check the check boxes for the information that you do not want displayed in the report. You can also select between displaying all the golfers, or just golfers from a particular golf course. This feature is handy if you are tracking handicaps for more than one golf club or golf league. Select the "All Courses" option to display all the golfers, or select the "Select a Course" option and select a golf course from the list box to display golfers from just one golf club. You can also enter a number in the Number of Recent Scores to Display to customize how many scores are displayed in the report.
Four options are provided for sorting the Golfers Report. It can be sorted by the Golfer ID, Team ID, Handicap Index or alphabetically by Golfer Name. Checking the "Sort by Home Course First" and/or the "Sort by Home Tees First" checkbox will sort all golfers by their home course and/or their home tees first then by one of the four options you selected.
Click OK and the worksheet will be formatted to display just the information that you selected. You can then print the worksheet using Excel's print function. Use the Page Layout section on the Excel ribbon to define how you want the page printed. Column headings are printed at the top of each page by default. You can save the report as an HTML file using the Create Web HTML Report button on the Main Menu sheet. You can also save the report as a PDF file using Excel's Save As command to save it in that format.
