Exceptional Score Adjustment
The Exceptional Score Adjustment is a feature that provides an immediate reduction if a player shoots a round with a differential 7 shots or more below their handicap, a -1.0 reduction will be applied to their most recent 20 score differentials. If it's 10 shots or more below their handicap, a -2.0 reduction will be applied. This will immediately reduce their handicap by one or two strokes. The effect will gradually fade over time as the adjusted differentials are replaced with newer scores.
This feature is only available when using the Global and Custom calculation methods. It is turned on by default and is recommended to help control "sandbagging" as it immediately adjusts a handicap closer to a golfer's true ability.
