Viewing Summaries

Summary View Tool Budget View Tool Ledger Summary Tool

Anytime you create a Report or Ledger Filter, the results are always displayed on the Report worksheet and the data is also summarized on the Report Summary and Budget Summary worksheets. This is true whether you used one of the built-in standard Quick Reports, Ledger Filters, or you created your own custom report.

Report Summary

To view the Report Summary, click the Report Summary tool (first tool show above) or select the Report Summary worksheet tab. This will display the Report Summary worksheet. The summary will list all the expense categories on the left side and income categories on the right side along with the totals for each category. A small in-cell bar chart at the top center shows the balance between income and expenses. You can add a chart to the worksheet that summarizes all the data in graphical form. Budget Summary

To view the Budget Summary, click the Budget Summary tool (second tool show above) or select the Budget Summary worksheet tab. This will display the Budget Summary worksheet. The summary will list any income or expense category that has an actual amount or budget amount greater than zero. A small in-cell chart provides a graphic that shows a quick comparison of actual spending vs. budgeted amounts for each category. Over budget expenses are shown in red and over budget income is shown in blue and vice versa. There is also a small in-cell chart at the top center that shows the balance between actual income and expenses.

Ledger Summary

The Ledger Summary worksheet is normally hidden and can be displayed by clicking the Ledger Summary tool (third tool shown above.) It works exactly like the Report Summary except it summarizes all the data in the active Ledger worksheet and is useful for quickly displaying a quick view of the expense and income category totals for a particular Ledger. (If there is more than one Ledger sheet and none are currently active, the Ledger selection form will appear so that you can select the Ledger you would like summarized.) Like the Report Summary, a small in-cell bar chart at the top center shows the balance between income and expenses.
