Networking

There are several options for providing networked or shared access to Handicap Manager for Excel. The complete Handicap Manager for Excel program and data is stored in a single Excel file. However, the Handicap Manager file must be shared in a way that it can be opened with a full version of Microsoft Excel. It will not work with Google Sheets or Excel Online. In addition, you cannot use Excel's shared workbook feature to share the file as that disables most of the program functionality. Anyone opening the file would need to have a full version of Excel. Only one user can have the Handicap Manager file open in edit mode at any one time, although subsequent users will be able to open it in read-only mode, or wait until the first user closes it to open the file in edit mode.

If you would like to provide shared access to your Handicap Manager file, we recommend using a file server or file sharing service like Dropbox to store the file. You can keep the program in Member Mode for general access but still have one or two administrators who can use Administrator Mode to manage the file.

You can also save most of the Handicap Manager reports as PDF files using Excel's File - Save As function to save the various report sheets in the PDF file format. This would allow you to publish the reports on your web site where golfers could access them using any web browser.
