Golf Course Information

The Golf Course Information function allows you to enter a host of information about the golf courses you will be playing. You can enter information for up to 250 golf courses, which is then stored in the Golf Courses worksheet. It is only necessary to enter information for the home golf courses of the players you will be tracking, but you will find it convenient to enter information for all the golf courses you play. Using the Golf Course Information form shown below, you can enter the course par, course rating, slope rating and bogey rating for up to ten sets of tees, as well as address, telephone and other general information. It's only necessary to enter the course name, and 18 hole par, course rating, slope rating and gender for one set of tees. However, it's best to enter information for any set of tees that you'll be using as well as the 9 hole information if it's available. The bogey rating is optional and is for informational purposes only since it is not used in the handicap calculation. (Be sure to enter 9 hole information if you're using the nine hole handicap format.) If you don't know the course rating or slope rating, you can find the information for most golf courses in the National Course Rating Database. If you still can't find the course rating or slope rating, just enter your own estimates for course rating and slope rating or enter the course par for the course rating and enter 113 for the slope rating.

Also, be sure to select the gender for each set of tees. Enter "M" for men and "F" for women (female). The course rating for each set of tees is always based on gender. Often times one set of tees will have a course rating for both men and women so you can enter a set of tees twice, once for men and once for women if necessary.

If you are using the nine-hole handicap format, you will want to enter the nine-hole course rating, slope rating and par for the courses you play. For eighteen hole courses, you can enter the front nine and back nine as individual nines or just enter the 18 hole course information. (If the course does not have a separate course rating for the front and back nines, you can divide the course rating in half for each nine if you like. However, do not divide the slope rating in half. The slope rating should be the full eighteen-hole slope rating for both nines.) If you enter just 18 hole information, the program will automatically estimate the nine-hole par and course rating when entering nine hole scores. See the Entering Scores topic for more details.
