Project Manager for Excel is an Excel workbook that contains the main Projects worksheet for tracking your projects, and Gantt Chart sheets for displaying Project timelines. All the program functions can be accessed using the Projects menu tab, which is added to the left side of the normal Excel menu tabs along the top of the Excel window. The Projects worksheet provides a view of all your projects and related tasks. The worksheet uses Excel's built in outline capabilities to group your various tasks by project. Each project can be expanded or collapsed to view or hide the various tasks associated with it.
The first time you open the Project Manager for Excel workbook, the Welcome popup form will be displayed. This form will display each time you start the program until you enter a valid registration code. Registered users receive free technical support for three years and free maintenance releases. Also, please pass along any suggestions you might have as they will help provide useful ideas for future enhancements. Click the OK button to clear the Welcome form and the main Projects worksheet will be displayed. The Miscellaneous project is already present with a single task reminding you to register the program.
Depending on your display, the Projects worksheet may or may not occupy the total width of your screen. If you are using a higher resolution display and want to make the program larger, you can adjust the zoom setting so that the worksheet occupies the full width of your screen. If you are using a lower resolution display you can adjust the zoom setting to make the display smaller so that more of the worksheet fits on your screen. Simply select Zoom from the View menu and enter a custom zoom value. You will need to experiment to find the correct setting. Usually values between 75% and 125% work well. Project Manager for Excel is very user friendly and operates entirely from Projects menu tab. Most of the functions are self explanatory but a detailed description of each of them is provided in this help file.
