Short Game Analysis

Similar to the Approach Shot Analysis worksheet, the Short Game Analysis worksheet lets you analyze all your play from on and around the green using the data in your most recent report. One of the fastest ways to lower your scores is to improve your short game and putting.

You can view the Short Game Analysis worksheet by clicking the Short Game Analysis button on the Main Menu sheet or by simply clicking on the Short Game Analysis sheet tab along the bottom of the Excel window. The worksheet updates automatically to reflect the data from your most recent report and contains three tables with different breakdowns of the data. The Chips and Pitches by Club table shows a breakdown of chips and pitch shots by which club was used, the Chips and Pitches by Distance table shows chips and pitch shots by the distance to the hole from where they originated, and the Putting Efficiency by Distance table shows putts by distance data.

The Chips and Pitches by Club table shows the number of shots, the average distance to the hole from where they originated, the proximity to the pin where they came to rest, and the save percentage for each club. Each cell in the Clubs column has a drop-down list that lets you select any club from your bag. This lets you customize the table to show whichever clubs you use around the green. (You can change the clubs available in your bag using the Program Options button on the Main Menu sheet.)

You can limit the table data to show only shots originating from specific locations using the drop-down box in the red shaded "Chips/Pitches From" field. For example, selecting Bunker from the drop-down field will limit the data to show only shots that originated from bunkers. Changes made in the red shaded "Chips/Pitches From" fields affects the data in both the Chips and Pitches by Club and Chips and Pitches by Distance tables.

The Chips and Pitches by Distance table shows the same data as the Chips and Pitches by Club table except it's broken down by the distance to the pin from where the chips originated. You can change the distances in the Chips >= and Chips < columns by entering new values in those cells. This lets you customize the table to view the distance ranges that best show your short game shots.

The Putting Efficiency by Distance table shows every putt from the data in your most recent report broken down by distance. The number of putts, number of putts made, % of putts made and average number of putts are shown for each distance. You can change the distances in the Putts >= and Putts < columns by entering new values in those cells. This lets you customize the table to view the distance ranges that best show your putts.

Once you've customized the tables to show the data you want, you can use the Export button to export the worksheet to a separate file and save it for future reference.
